I wasn’t ready for retirement, but what on Earth would I do with my time? At my age, to find another senior role in the corporate world was going to be hard. I started looking for opportunities that would provide flexible work hours near to home. A friend told me about a V.I.P. gardening franchise. It was something I had never considered doing before but as I used to farm in New Zealand I understand the outdoors and outdoor equipment, so the idea appealed to me. Four years after my purchase, I have an established business of more than 100 clients and I work four or five days a week – by choice. There is more work out there if I want to take it on.
